Ronald McDonald House Chicago 08/29/11

Our Chicago Ink Wellers drew with the kids at Chicago’s brand new Ronald McDonald House! This new, larger facility will help keep even more families together while children receive treatment for serious illness.  Thank you, Charles Boyce, Pat Byrnes, Brian Diskin, Ann Farrell, and John Hambrock (first timer!) for volunteering and to Brian Kelly for leading the event and rallying such a wonderful team of artists.

Mount Sinai Hospital 08/14/12

We had a great night teaching drawing based on simple shapes on Mount Sinai’s KidsZone TV show.  We also got to draw with some children who came down to the rec room where Elana Amity even got her portrait done by one of the kids!  It was this boy’s first time drawing from a model and his drawing came out beautifully.   We hope he sticks with it ’cause he’s a natural.  Thank you to volunteers, Ray Alma, Elana Amity (Event Director), Joan Chiverton and Barbara Garrison.

Bellevue Hospital 07/31/12

Jane Archer led the group tonight in making 3D self portraits, an activity she developed during her time working with children at a school in an impoverished region of Brazil. Everyone had a fantastic time inventing new ways to make 2D art into 3D objects like bending their characters into bracelets and hats!  Thank you to volunteers, Ray Alma, Elana Amity, Dan Pinto, Paolo Rivera and Ed Steckley!  You can read more about Jane’s time in Brazil on her blog: http://psbella.wordpress.com/2012/06/14/tia-jane-in-brazil/
